Small but surprisingly powerful: some of the most intense star-forming regions in the universe are found inside tiny dwarf galaxies. Hubble observations reveal these compact galaxies producing stars at rates that dwarf those of much larger spiral galaxies, making them key subjects for understanding the early universe when such vigorous activity was commonplace.
